Oakley Extensions · Leicestershire

Extensions that never read as added on.

Single-storey, two-storey, side, rear and wrap-around. The work that quietly transforms how a home feels — done properly, across Leicester and the surrounding county. Trading as Oakley Extensions, part of Oakley Crafted Construction.

What we do

The work that quietly transforms how a home feels.

Done properly, an extension does not look added on. It looks like the house was always meant to be this size.

Most of the homes we extend are lived in throughout the build, so how we work matters as much as what we build — a tidy site, clear weekly updates, and trades we have used for years. From a kitchen extension on a Leicester semi to a wrap-around on a village property near Cosby, we design it to belong, then build it to last.

What this covers

Extensions, in every form.

I.

Single-storey

Rear and side extensions that open a home up to light and garden.

II.

Two-storey

Adding real space above and below, designed to sit right on the elevation.

III.

Side & wrap-around

Reclaiming the awkward spaces around a house and making them work.

IV.

Kitchen extensions

The most common brief — the room a home tends to live in.

V.

Garden rooms

Standalone or joined, properly insulated for year-round use.

VI.

Structural openings

Steels, knock-throughs and openings, engineered and signed off.

Our approach

Designed to belong.

We do not work without proper drawings, proper consents, or proper contracts.

An extension lives or dies on the detail — the roofline, the way the new brick meets the old, the fall of light through the day. We design with our architectural partners, cost it fully before we start, and manage planning and building control so you are not left chasing the council. One site manager, named at the start, present throughout.

Common questions

Questions we’re often asked.

Do I need planning permission for an extension?

Some extensions fall under permitted development, others need permission. We handle planning and building control for you, so you are not left chasing the council.

Can we stay in the house during the work?

Usually yes. Most of our clients live in throughout, so we keep a tidy, considerate site and clear weekly communication.

How long does an extension take?

It varies with size and complexity; we give a realistic programme up front and keep you updated weekly.

What types of extension do you build?

Single-storey, two-storey, side, rear and wrap-around, plus garden rooms, designed to look part of the house rather than bolted on.
